Utilizing Organizational Strategy to Optimize Relationships, Bargaining, and Negotiation in the World of Art
As I would like to pursue a career in the business of art, I will tailor my courses within Organizational Studies to prepare me for the business aspect of such a profession. My major in History of Art complements this path, preparing me to analyze and interpret artworks as well as understand their backgrounds. Through Organizational Studies, I hope to learn how to persuade and negotiate strategically in order to build solid and lasting partnerships. So much of the business of art relies on having good, foundational relationships with clients. Thus, understanding the mechanisms behind connections is a strategic key to ensuring that such relationships are put in place and then cultivated. Learning how to market a product and then sell it through persuasion and bargaining are also fundamentals of the art business; the classes I take through Organizational Studies support me in these areas as well. Lasty, the interdisciplinary nature of Organizational Studies gives me the ability to learn and understand all these skills from different disciplines and perspectives, which is especially important in a field in which working with people from all different backgrounds is common.
