Optimizing Positive Organizational Impact in the Corporate World
Through my OS pathway, I intend to explore the ways in which corporations impact their surrounding communities and the general public in both positive and negative ways. With a background in Environment and International Studies, I have learned a lot about the many ways in which the private sector has made its mark on the world, oftentimes in exploitative or environmentally damaging ways. However, given its history and power, the corporate sector has the potential to enact great changes in the world and foster business models that emphasize people and the planet alongside profit. It is my goal in Organizational Studies to explore the ways in which corporations can play a positive role and the internal and external structures that must be at play to ensure they are being held responsible for the welfare of the Earth and its people. I hope to take my organizational education with me after college and be a part of the community encouraging and expanding upon the corporate social responsibility path that has been growing over the past few decades.
