Human Capital and Diversity in Technology
Right now more than ever is the world becoming more interconnected and interracial, but companies are falling behind in adapting to the change. With technology also becoming more influential in all aspects of daily life, including our work environment, I seek to remind companies of the importance of focusing on human capital. Specifically, workplaces should prioritize emotional satisfaction just as much as employee level of productivity. The technology industry, for instance, is known to be lacking in diversity and employee retention and the reasons vary, which I intend to uncover and resolve. I would accomplish this by focusing on Industrial-Organizational Psychology and using my research to consult Human Resource departments within the Tech industry. Through Organizational Studies, I am developing knowledge in managing human capital and racial inequalities to further strengthen the foundation of my goals. My driving passion behind my studies is helping individuals find comfort and joy in a setting they spend the majority of their lives. Everyone deserves a chance to follow their passions and they should be able to do so in a diverse and understanding environment.
