Tech Strategy & Global Development Via the Lens of Behavioral Science
Inspired by my early interest in operant conditioning as it relates to executing positive social outcomes, I set out to study Cognitive and Computer Science to better understand how human behavior could be operationalized. Upon realizing that the macro rather than micro approach to systems design appealed to me, I had an OS eureka moment at around 2:24 AM on the LSA course guide several years ago.
As I've navigated the OS program, I've realized that organizational behavioral science has been my calling all along. Performing, chronicling, and applying research insights to augment destructive behavior in macro-organizational contexts quite literally keeps me awake at night (we've all got our vices). Thus, I've decided to dive deep into this space - leveraging my QMSS and UX minors to understand empathetic and technical design & research principles, as well as my OS major to situate it all in the context of global development and technological innovation.
Moving forward, I hope to utilize my education to effect positive outcomes for communities internationally in absolutely whatever way I can. If of interest, I'd love to chat with anyone interested in ecosystem building, systems design, behavioral science, social impact, and just about anything else there is to be chatted about (gavlich@umich.edu). Thank you so much for checking out my page!
