Driving Increased Collaboration and Community Representation in Policymaking Spaces
My OS Pathway focuses on studying how to better drive collaboration among political entities in the private & public sectors to develop and implement more effective legislation; how these initiatives impact various communities in different ways; and, how to create organizational pathways that enable members of historically underserved communities to contribute their unique perspectives to public policy development. Creating organizational pathways for equitable education opportunities and political representation is essential to developing legislation that effectively responds to all Americans' needs.
My long-term career goal is to create civic engagement opportunities and advocate for historically underrepresented groups in legal and political spaces. By double majoring in Organizational Studies and Political Science, I hope to gain a better understanding of how American legislation is shaped, passed, and implemented. I would also like to learn about how the actual implementation of legislation may fall short of its intended outcomes, as well as what can be done to minimize this and create positive, equity-based outcomes for all communities. In the future, I hope to attend law school and advocate for historically underrepresented communities – whether that is by representing others as a lawyer, or developing equity-driven policies as a legislator.
