Effectively Developing Human Capital and Relationships to Increase Organizational Efficiency and Success
I have always been interested in the actions of others. This tendency to observe and contemplate has followed me through my educational and professional experiences. Today, I know that if given the option to either, study alone, or study with a group of people, I will nine times out of ten, pick the latter of the two. In my experience, the reason behind this choice is that when you are thrust into a group of like-minded individuals you are challenged to excel. As a member of the Coast Guard, nothing is more important than the team, and I believe that this should translate into civilian organizations as well. A saying that is reiterated over and over again is, “if one fails, we all fail,” this everything or nothing attitude supports the creation of communities regardless of circumstance. As a student and eventually a professional, my goal is to garner relationships that encourage others to be the best that they can be. Furthermore, I thoroughly believe that the best relationships are those that are diverse, inclusive, and positive. Through my coursework in OS, I plan to learn how to effectively develop and analyze human capital in organizations to increase success.
