Understanding the Intersection of Political and Legal Institutions, Corporations, and Decision-Making to Enact Positive Organizational and Societal Change
Through my OS pathway, I hope to understand the intersection of law, political and legal institutions, corporations, and decision-making processes in creating a positive internal organizational culture while positively impacting the external environment and community through corporate social responsibility. I am particularly interested in how the different intersections affect current and new policies, mainly focusing on what prompts an organization to implement one procedure over another. By understanding the various (political, institutional, etc.) factors that go into policy creation and implementation, I hope that we can then shape these policies to create effective organizational cultures while positively impacting the community.
Alongside my Organizational Studies major, I am double majoring in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE). Both majors will enhance my understanding of legal institutions and organizational policies and their impact on the economy and people. As a PPE major, I will learn the conceptual and theoretical applications of the ethics of specific policies and the development of legal institutions, focusing on the labor economy and employment law through a constitutional and philosophical lens. PPE will help me evaluate the history and theoretical aspects of inequality and inequity in the status quo by assessing how philosophical standards and economic interests influence politics. On the other hand, OS offers real-world application by focusing on existing organizational policy and change, which will provide me with the fundamental knowledge of organizational behavior, law, and decision-making.
I firmly believe that my double majors will help me understand how the world functions, theoretically and practically, while equipping me with the skills to be an agent of positive change.
