Improving Communities, Schools, and Nonprofits through Sociological and Quantitative Analysis of People, Policies, and Organizations
My OS pathway is inspired by my passion for community-based work and for encouraging community growth/development. I want to study the sociology of the people and organizations that are the anchors of many communities. Additionally, using quantitative methods, particularly statistical studies, I will measure the impact of policies, including macro and micro-level changes. Understanding how and why these aspects of communities interact will allow me to harness the power of public schools and other educational institutions, as well as nonprofits and public policy, to address inequities in our communities.
This approach allows me to work with and learn from others who have diverse world views. I am dedicated to learning about the often unseen sides of schools, nonprofits, and other organizations. Doing so, through OS classes and opportunities, will give me the skills to consult on policy changes and community activism to better every level of government and of society.
