Analyzing and Comparing the Legal History of Human Rights Domestically and Abroad in order to Enact Positive Change
My pathway within the Organizational Studies program will focus on the equities and inequities in the United States legal system. I want to identify how legal policies have evolved over time and how U.S. policies compare with respect to international laws. I am interested in the relationships that exist between various government organizations and the diverse populations they are required to govern. In turn, I want to gain a better perspective on why the legal protection of human rights varies so much in different cultures. The flexible and diverse OS curriculum allows me to pursue my interests in legal organizations, international studies, and history. Evaluating the history of government systems and their legal infrastructures, both domestically and abroad, will help me gain a more global perspective on how legal policies impact persons in any given society. This understanding will best prepare me for my future goals of advancing equality in American legal organizations and supporting these organizations in approaching those legal matters that stretch national boundaries.
