Tiya Miles Wins Schwieder Prize
Native American Studies and American Culture Professor Tiya Miles won the Dorothy Schwieder Prize for the best article on Midwestern history in 2013. The organization praised Professor Miles' article on "Laura Smith Haviland in Abolitionist Women's History" for its compelling story as well as its ability to highlight the importance of the Midwest as a region. Professor Miles's article appears in The Michigan Historical Review.
