Image Transcription:
This course will explore the ideas of a rainbow of thinkers who were concerned with political and social ideas and who wrote in either the 19th century, the 20th century, or both. The thinkers with whom we will be concerned will include figures with leftist, liberal, centrist, and right-wing sentiments. Special attention will be devoted to Jewish writers prominent in Eastern or Central Europe and influenced by the rise of secular approaches. We are likely to focus on works produced by such figures as Dubnow, Zhitlovsky, Ahad Ha'am, Pinsker, Borochov, Syrkin, Medem, Jabotinsky, Horkheimer, Fromm, Lowenthal, Marcuse, Arendt, and Strauss.
