Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion
The Frankel Center for Judaic Studies at the University of Michigan foregrounds the diversity and richness of Jewish experience. We study the broad range of geographies, periods, and cultural experiences that have shaped Jewish life. Our course offerings, research areas, and public-facing programming represent this diversity. Our faculty and students bring a wide array of perspectives and experiences to the study of Jewish communities.
The study of Jewish experience delves into both times of dire persecution and eras of exceptional cultural creativity. Frankel Center faculty and students bring important understanding and context to engaging our contemporary moment with insight into the danger of exclusionary political movements and the promise of multicultural possibility. From this position, the Frankel Center vitally contributes to the University’s overall mission and values of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
