About
"Queer Horror: New Perspectives on the Chilling and Macabre"
Queer Horror: New Perspectives on the Chilling and Macabre explores queer representation in horror stories, dissects horror tropes and elements, and relates personal revelations about growing up with horror and finding oneself on the screen and on the page. Distinguished by its emphasis on a queer reading of horror and co-author Joe Carlough’s and my personal relationships to the genre, Queer Horror sets out to find the humanity in horror’s monsters. It also highlights the different ways audiences of horror can draw their own conclusions and find their own connections to the terrors of the genre. Our book addresses a popular audience and aims to invite all horror lovers, but queer horror lovers especially, to consider the many ways the horror genre has—for centuries!—represented queer identities.
