About
Claude VanValkenburg is a fifth-year student completing a dual degree in User Experience Design and Arts & Ideas in the Humanities. With her work in UX Design, she hopes to apply design justice principles to create community-oriented projects that encourage civic engagement and creative expression both online and in physical spaces. Her major in the humanities has allowed her to explore the power of art, particularly ceramics, to convey personal and collective narratives; this has instilled a passion for pursuing art as a form of activism. Through her work at the Institute, Claude looks forward to facilitating thoughtful conversations between community members. In her free time, she most enjoys crafting and cooking with friends. She will also take any opportunity to embark on a road trip or thoroughly organize a silverware drawer.
