About
Isaac is a PhD student in History and Anthropology, he is also in the Science Technology and Society program and involved in Economic History. His research focuses on 19th century British and American science and technology. He is primarily interested in technology and its development with particular focus on how emerging technology is researched, patented, disseminated, regulated, marketed and shaped by its consumers all of which create new businesses and industries. His current object of study is wireless telegraphy before the tech developed into 'radio'.
He has also written on the US Civil War. In this respect, he is interested in the founding documents of the US and their deployment in various arguments in the run up to the Civil War, especially the popular and political debates around the Declaration of Independence.
Previously Isaac worked at Gartner, an IT research and advisory firm as well as at a tech startup. He also taught English in Los Barrios, Spain. In his free time he enjoys practicing martial arts (judo and jiu jitsu), trying new methods of brewing coffee, going on road trips and spending time with his family and friends.
Other academic interests include: transcendentalism (especially Emerson), 1960's lyrics as poetry (especially Bob Dylan)
