About
Major: Neuroscience and German
Bio: Hi guys! My name is Shupti! I’m currently a junior double majoring in Neuroscience and German. I grew up in Detroit & Warren, Michigan, and I’ve been studying German since my freshman year of high school. Coming to UMich, I wanted to touch base with something familiar, and the German department at the university helped me grow comfortable in both my language skills and played a large role in growing a community while here. During my sophomore year, I lived in the Max Kade Haus, and it was a wonderful way of immersing myself in the language in a more comfortable, casual setting. I plan to study abroad in Germany in the summer of 2027, and I'm so excited to fully live and adjust to the culture while there!
Besides learning German, I’m Bangladeshi, and I love playing an active role in UMich’s Bangladeshi Student Association. I’m also a first-generation student, and while figuring out college and the pre-medical environment myself, I love working with the First-Generation Pre-Health Association to help others navigate the same sphere. I work at Michigan Medicine, and I also try to volunteer at the local VA hospital as much as possible. In my actual free time, I love painting, reading, making crafts, and photography.
Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions about German, double majoring, navigating campus life as a first-generation student, or whatever else!
