Language Clubs

German

Join the German Club!
Whether you're just starting out or already fluent, the German Club is your place to connect with others who share a passion for German language and culture. From casual conversations at Stammtisch and our festive Metzger’s dinner to spirited events like the Cultural Club World Cup, there’s something for everyone. Come to as many or as few events as you’d like. No pressure, just fun, language, and community!

Bonus for students in German 101 to 232: Attending German Club events can count toward making up absences in your class.

Have questions or want to get involved? Reach out to the German Club E-Board at germaneboard@umich.edu.

Scandinavian

Explore Scandinavia with Us!
The Scandinavian Club is a welcoming space for anyone curious about the cultures, languages, and traditions of Scandinavia. While we focus on Sweden and the Swedish language since it is taught here at U-M, all of our events are in English and no prior language experience is needed to join the fun.

Throughout the year, we host movie nights, laid-back fika gatherings, and work to connect students with Scandinavian cultural events in the area, including programs from the Detroit Swedish Foundation. Whether you're looking to practice Swedish, explore your Scandinavian heritage, or just learn more about this fascinating region, you're invited.

Everyone is welcome!
