Bio: Hallo everyone! My name is Michaela Castle and I will soon be a senior. I am originally from Michigan and I have majors in both Political Science and German as well as minors in Business and Public Policy. This past year I have been participating in the Academic Year in Freiburg study abroad program and have not only had the opportunity to study in Germany, but I have also had the privilege of experiencing many different countries and cultures through travel. My first time in Germany was through a previous backpacking trip in Europe the summer after my freshman year. Since moving to Germany, I have seen and learned much more about both Germany and Europe. In addition to traveling, I love hiking and outdoor activities, spending time with friends, and participating in various sports.

I began learning German my very first year of college and really enjoyed the study of not only a different language, but also a different culture. After beginning with German 101 my freshman year, I am now already close to finishing my German degree! Although I have been away and in Germany for a year, I am active in various clubs and organizations on the University of Michigan campus. I am also pre-law and hope to attend law school soon after my undergraduate graduation. I am always willing to answer any questions you may have as well as discuss experiences with academics, studying abroad, traveling or life in general!
