Chronicle of My Mother (わが母の記) is based on an autobiographical novel by Inoue Yasushi and follows a family over the course of fifteen years as they deal with issues of abandonment, resentment, and the decline that comes with old age. The story centers on an author (Yakusho Koji) who has a difficult relationship with his elderly parents, especially as his mother's memory deteriorates day by day. As he grapples with his own role as a father, he attempts to reconcile his relationships.

Presented in Japanese with English subtitles. Read more about the film, including ratings, at https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1818443/
