The Center for Armenian Studies (CAS) at the University of Michigan is proud to announce a new partnership with the National Association for Armenian Studies and Research (NAASR). This collaboration aims to advance Armenian studies through joint programming, scholarly exchanges, and expanded resources for research and education. Together, CAS and NAASR are committed to fostering greater academic and community engagement, promoting Armenian studies, and supporting the next generation of scholars.

Founded in 1955, NAASR is an independent non-profit membership organization and one of the world's leading Armenian Studies centers and research libraries. NAASR advances Armenian Studies through research and scholarship, offers high-quality educational public programming, and supports and connects scholars of Armenian Studies worldwide with each other and a broad general public to build a global community, expand horizons, and explore Armenian culture, history, and identity.

CAS at U-M serves students, faculty, and the broader community by furthering the understanding of the history and culture of Armenian societies worldwide through pioneering research, innovative instruction, and a commitment to building partnerships on campus and beyond. With two endowed chairs in Armenian studies—the Alex Manoogian Chair in Modern Armenian History and the Marie Manoogian Chair in Armenian Language and Literature—CAS provides programmatic support for forward-thinking curricula, fellowships, symposia, conferences, and outreach programs. The center engages in critical Armenian studies as an interdisciplinary endeavor, contributing to broader thematic discussions including history, memory, and politics, gender and sexuality studies, genocide studies, diaspora studies, and more.

As part of this partnership, CAS and NAASR hope to launch a series of joint initiatives, including conferences, speaker series, workshops, and more. These efforts are designed to expand access to Armenian studies resources, foster interdisciplinary research, and facilitate dialogue among scholars, students, and the wider public.

This partnership will also strengthen Armenian studies communities in Massachusetts and Michigan by creating opportunities for collaboration and cultural exchange. By combining the strengths of CAS’s academic programming and NAASR’s extensive archival and research resources, the initiative aims to enrich the discipline globally and build connections within Armenian diaspora communities.

Through these joint efforts, CAS and NAASR reaffirm their shared mission to preserve and promote Armenian studies while providing new platforms for scholarship and engagement.
