Manoogian Postdoctoral Fellowships in Armenian Studies
The Center for Armenian Studies (CAS) at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, invites applications for the 2025-26 Manoogian Postdoctoral Fellowship in Armenian Studies. This full-time 12-month position, with an option for a one-year extension contingent on curricular needs and progress, is open to junior scholars who have completed a PhD within the last three years. The fellowship offers a vibrant intellectual environment in which outstanding junior scholars will be able to conduct their research and have the opportunity to teach one course. While in residence, fellows will be affiliated with a department relevant to their research; they will be expected to participate regularly in CAS events, present one public lecture, and teach one undergraduate course. They will also organize a workshop in their field. Fellows are required to spend the academic year (September – August) in residence at the University of Michigan.
Manoogian Postdoctoral Fellowship in Armenian History
The Center for Armenian Studies (CAS) and the Department of History at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor invite applications for the 2025-26 Manoogian Postdoctoral Fellowship in Armenian History. This full-time 12-month position, with an option for a one-year extension contingent on curricular needs and progress, is open to junior scholars who have completed a PhD within the last three years. Successful applicants should demonstrate scholarly excellence in the field of Armenian history. A successful applicant’s work should speak to the global, interdisciplinary, and multidimensional vision of U-M History and contribute to broader thematic and topical discussions that are at the heart of the Department of History’s mission, including but not exclusive to materiality, spatiality, environmental history, gender & sexuality, childhood studies, human rights, genocide studies, diaspora studies, nation & nationalism, global history, and Mediterranean studies. The fellowship offers a vibrant intellectual environment in which outstanding junior scholars will conduct their research. Fellows will be expected to teach one course per year, present one public lecture, organize a workshop in their field, and participate in scholarly events and activities in the Center for Armenian Studies, the History Department, and the Eisenberg Institute for Historical Studies. Fellows are required to spend the academic year (September – August) in residence at the University of Michigan.

Eligibility
PhD required. Postdoctoral Fellows may not pursue another degree while in this appointment, nor may they hold any other fellowships, tenure-track, or visiting positions concurrently. Applicants must have successfully defended their dissertation before the start of their potential tenure as Manoogian Fellows.
Research and proposed courses should be related to Armenian Studies (literature, culture, visual arts, and politics). We reserve the possibility to ask the fellow to teach a core course already listed in our curriculum.
Benefits
For the 2025-26 academic year, the fellowship will carry a stipend of around $52,000 and a $2,000 research/travel fund. Fellows will be eligible for U-M's high-quality benefits package.

Electronic copy of dissertation. If the dissertation is not complete at the time of the application, the applicant should forward the completed parts with a detailed outline of the rest of the work. If the dissertation is not in English, please provide a chapter in translation and other writing samples in English
Research proposal (1500 words max.), including a description of the project, bibliography, timetable, explicit goals, and the reason it is proposed to be pursued at CAS
Syllabus of one Armenian Studies related course the applicant proposes to teach. This should include a description, learning objectives, and a weekly reading schedule
