Peer Advising offers students the chance to connect with trained undergraduate peer advisors who can share first-hand perspectives on courses, majors and minors, research opportunities, and internships. Peer advisors are here to answer questions, provide guidance on navigating the curriculum, and help you make the most of your experience in Statistics and Data Science. Whether you’re exploring the major, planning your schedule, or looking for advice on getting involved in research, peer advisors are a great resource!
Peer Advising is offered as drop-in advising (no appointment necessary) in 317A West Hall. Please see the schedule below for more information on when our Peer Advisors will be available!
Meet your Fall 2025 Peer Advisors!

Caroline Moy
Hi everyone! My name is Caroline and I’m a 5th year in the Accelerated Master’s Degree Program in Applied Statistics, graduating last winter semester with my bachelor’s in statistics and Spanish. I’m a graduate student instructor for STATS 250 this semester as well as doing research for Los Alamos National Laboratory in river temperature modelling using Long-Short Term Memory models. Outside of school, I love reading, climbing, hiking, or exploring new restaurants in Ann Arbor. I look forward to meeting you all!
Shuge Ouyang
Hello, my name is Shuge Ouyang, and I’m a senior majoring in Honors Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, and Data Science. I’ve worked as a research assistant in both the Math and Statistics departments, where I focus on interdisciplinary projects. Outside of academics, I enjoy traveling to natural landscapes, going on road trips, and watching soccer—I’ve been a passionate FC Barcelona fan for over ten years. I’m excited to help students explore combinations of majors and minors and support them in planning their academic journeys.
Owen Yoo
Hi! My name is Owen, and I am a senior studying honors statistics and data science at Michigan. I am originally from Rochester Hills, MI, an hour away from Ann Arbor. I chose this field because I am interested in the wide variety of applications of statistical methods. Specifically, I am interested in biostatistics and sports analytics. I hope to pursue a graduate degree in biostatistics. Feel free to talk to me about classes, pursuing research, and why you should major in statistics and/or data science!
