Statistics is a study of variability, and the field cannot thrive without variety among its practitioners. Building critical mass among diverse groups helps everyone in our department, as does creating a vibrant climate of inclusiveness. The University of Michigan Department of Statistics continues its long-standing commitment to promoting diversity among its faculty, staff, and students, and in the Statistics profession at large.
We strive to cultivate a supportive and inclusive climate. To this end, leadership is advised by the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) committee, composed of representatives of faculty, postdoctoral researchers, staff, and students in the department.
