The Keene Theater

The Keene Theater is a performance venue located within East Quad. The space is operated by the Residential College, which hosts events in the theater throughout each semester. As a multipurpose venue that puts on a wide variety of performances, the space is reserved for use by RC courses, programs, and student organizations.

About the Keene

Featuring a quarter-circle stage, a state-of-the-art lighting system, and an intimate, up close seating arrangement with a capacity of 150, the theater is a fount for the arts across the RC.

The RC Drama Program and the RC Music Program hold curricular events in the Keene each semester, including UM courses, workshops, and end-of-term class performances. In addition, the RC Players host a number of theatrical performances in the Keene, and the Center for World Performance Studies attracts world-renowned performers to the theater. Most events in the Keene are free and open to the public.

Parking

There are several parking options near East Quad.

The Forest Avenue Parking Garage is the nearest public parking garage, at 650 South Forest Avenue, Ann Arbor, MI 48104. This garage is operated by the City of Ann Arbor, and offers all-day parking at approximately $1.20/hour.
Metered parking is available on East University Avenue at $2.20/hour, and curbside parking is available in the residential area south of East Quad. Metered parking is very limited. Parking is free on Sundays, and every day after 6 PM.
The Hill Street Parking Structure and the Church Street Parking Structure offer parking for faculty, staff, and students with UM parking permits.

Handicapped parking is available in all structures, including the Forest Avenue Parking Garage. Display of a state handicap parking permit and payment of the hourly fee are required.

Navigating within East Quad

The theater's main level is accessible through the lobby, located on the basement level of East Quad. Balcony seating is accessible via the piano lounge, on the first floor of East Quad. Follow signage within the building to find the theater. Wheelchair accessible seating is located in the theater's main level.
