About
Mabel Rodríguez, Lecturer IV, completed her MA at the University of Rochester (NY) in theoretical linguistics. Her doctoral research at the University of California, Davis focused on second language acquisition of Spanish academic writing by English speakers. Ms. Rodríguez is currently the coordinator of the Intermediate Intensive Spanish program at the Residential College at the University of Michigan and teaches advanced seminars on multiple topics such as The History of Tango, Written vs. Oral Language in the Age of the Internet, Bilingualism, and Teatro Campesino.
Ms. Rodríguez has also been a co-instructor for the Migrant Outreach and Education since 2003. This Spring/Summer class is an interdisciplinary service-learning course that addresses current migrant issues affecting their education, health, and legal rights as well as provides students with ESL training in order to teach in migrant camps in the field study component.
