About
Originally from Ann Arbor, Katie is a proud alumna of the University of Michigan, where she earned a BA in Arts & Ideas in the Humanities (RC) and Psychology (LSA). After graduating, her career took her to North Carolina, where she taught middle school, developing strong communication, leadership, and classroom management skills while creating engaging learning environments for diverse student groups. Later, in Washington, DC, Katie transitioned to teaching adult ESL and digital education, honing her expertise in instructional design, curriculum development, and fostering digital literacy skills for non-native speakers.
These experiences shaped Katie’s approach to communication and education, bringing a deep understanding of audience engagement, cultural sensitivity, and effective messaging to her current role as Marketing and Outreach Specialist for the Residential College. In her current position, Katie combines her passion for storytelling with her marketing expertise, creating impactful outreach strategies that celebrate the RC’s unique blend of creativity, social justice, academic rigor, and activism. Katie is also expanding her skill set, pursuing an MS in Marketing from the University of Michigan-Dearborn’s College of Business, with graduation set for 2025.
Reflecting on her journey, Katie shares, “The RC is a vibrant hub of creativity, social justice, academic excellence, and activism. I’m thrilled to contribute to this dynamic community, highlighting the exceptional students, staff, faculty, and alumni through communications and outreach.”
