About
Born and raised in Fresno, California, Kassy Vang (she/her) is the youngest daughter of Hmong refugees. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Public Health and Ethnic Studies from UC Berkeley where she participated in mentorships and outreach efforts of Southeast Asian and Hmong student organizations to bridge the gap between higher education and students of color. After graduating, Kassy joined UC Berkeley Destination College Advising Corps (DCAC) as a College Advising Fellow (CAF), providing college preparation services to first-generation, low-income, and underrepresented high school students in the Bay Area through Boost@BerkeleyHaas.
Kassy's experience at UMich includes being the Department of Sociology's Academic Advising Graduate Intern, CSP SBSP 2024 Residence Coordinator, and Residential College's Academic Services Graduate Intern. Kassy aims to provide a safe space for students to feel comfortable seeking guidance as she understands that navigating the complexities of a large public institution can be a challenging process.
