Dearly Newly Admitted RC Students,
Congratulations on your acceptance to the University of Michigan! I don’t need to tell you this is a huge accomplishment, since you know first-hand the effort spent in those extra hours studying, the time dedicated to essays revisions, and the trust in yourself and your hard work to finally hit that “submit” button.
Let me be one among many alumni to welcome you to the University of Michigan and celebrate this impressive feat!
Not only have you singled out the University of Michigan for your academic future, but you’ve found yourself drawn to the Residential College - a unique place unlike any other on campus.
The RC is known for our close-knit community, uncommon courses centered around hands-on experiences and interdisciplinary learning, and our dedicated approach to education as a place of discovery grounded in a curriculum of exploratory thinking. As an RC alumna myself, I’m thrilled you’ve found us, because I can’t imagine my time as a Michigan student without my incredible experiences in the RC.
If I had to sum up the RC in one idea, I’d mention the RC as a community and academic institution infused with a sense of openness. For many students that openness is like a breath of fresh air allowing them to pursue Computer Science but also explore a passion for photography. In the RC you don’t have to be solely one thing or another, there’s space to grow in all aspects of yourself (and yes, still graduate on time).
Even though the fall may seem eons away, so many exciting things are heading your way! From signing your Housing contract to registering for orientation, your future as a UM Wolverine and RC-er is just around the corner, and we can’t wait to get to know you - get ready for the journey of a lifetime.
Go Blue!
