What are some highlights of your career - or side projects - that you’re most proud of?
Working on RC Players shows like The Dybbuk on Orchard and The Captive.
What are you doing lately that you’re passionate about?
I'm taking a class on Medieval poetry and I'm working on an essay that explores the placement of poems on the page in anthologies, comparing them to how they appear in original manuscripts. I'm also expanding my cooking skills!
What about it makes you so passionate? What is the underlying reason or cause you’re doing what you’re doing?
I'm passionate about poetry and cooking because my brain feels filled up by them. When I'm cooking I get to escape and experiment and at the end, I have a physical reward to enjoy! Poetry is similar, I write because it feels natural to express, and I read because it's exciting to learn and expand my understanding of what's possible.
How does something you do in the RC relate to this?
The RC is where I've met some of the most passionate people at this university, and sharing with them my interests in all fields feels like a win on either end. Every time I meet a new faculty member or student who inspires me, I just get excited about this place all over again.
If you could have dinner with anyone, fictional or real, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
They say you shouldn't meet your heroes, but I couldn't forgive myself if I didn't choose Seamus Heaney. Hopefully he'd forgive me for only wanting to talk about his first book of poetry (the very best in my opinion).
What’s your favorite food to make, and why?
Sushi! It's satisfying to roll and make it look nice. Plus, if you use the right ingredients (veggies and tuna or tofu), its less expensive than most meals with a big protein.
