Congratulations, Briana!
Briana Lloyd, Academic Services Coordinator in the Residential College, is the recipient of the Unsung Champion of Advising Award. This award recognizes individuals across LSA who are not formally designated advisers but who influence and guide students in an informal mentoring capacity.
Briana is extremely supportive in terms of my academic and personal performance. She offers me precious advice and insights about UMICH while I am still exploring potential pathways and life on campus.
Students commented that Briana frequently went above and beyond her normal responsibilities, taking time to assist them not only in making long-term course plans, but exploring their interests and encouraging them to challenge themselves as they pursued their goals.
Nominators noted that Briana reduces their stress considerably, creating a safe space for them to discuss their concerns, wellbeing, and overall engagement at U-M. Adjectives that come up frequently in nominations include “tireless,” “compassionate,” and “welcoming.”
Briana is an incredible advisor for all students of the Residential College, and without her, the Residential College would not be the same.
She tirelessly works to ensure that any student who comes to her is able to receive the help that they need, and she is always willing to lend a compassionate ear to those who need one.
She is kind and welcoming, and I cannot imagine the Residential College without her.
