Now that the school year has ended, we congratulate and wish the best of luck to all graduating students and departing postdoctoral fellows:
Fabian Hardy has been a Postdoctoral fellow working with Catherine Badgley and Adjunct Lecturer in EARTH since 2023, but his presence in the Museum precedes this. Fabian worked with Catherine Badgley as a graduate student and obtained a PhD from the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences in 2024. We are proud to see Fabian join Slippery Rock University this month and wish him the best of luck in this new adventure.
Brielle Canares has successfully completed a MS in Earth and Environmental Sciences, under the supervision of Curator Mónica Carvalho. Brielle is native to the State of Washington and graduated from the University of Washington with a BS degree in Biology. For her MS research, she used biomarkers and phytoliths to test for the occurrence of fire during the early evolution of modern Neotropical rainforests.
Abigail Waller has graduated with a BS degree from the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences. She worked with Luke Weaver and will now be joining Greg Wilson-Mantilla’s Lab at the University of Washington as a graduate student in Geosciences.
The Museum of Paleontology welcomes Sara Arranz. Sara is a PhD candidate at the Institut Català de Paleontologia Miquel Crusafont, in Barcelona, Spain, and will be working with Catherine Badgley during the summer. Sara studies Miocene hominoids and other mammals from the Iberian Peninsula, exploring functional variation in tooth morphology in relation to paleoenvironments.
