Impact Stories
“Regarding my experience in MIW, it really jump-started my career in D.C. My first internship in MIW provided me with the skill-building and tools needed to apply for more internships in DC and the jobs I had after my internship experience. In addition, MIW was great for networking and I'm still in contact with both of my mentors from MIW. I gained valuable mentors from my internship in MIW. Overall, it was a great experience that I recommend that anyone interested in living in D.C. participate in.”
—Ashlei Anderson, A.B. ’19, MIW Fall 2017; Current 3L Georgetown Law
“MIW has been a springboard for my professional and intellectual development and serves as a key highlight from my time at Michigan. The exposure to different professors, schools of thought, and peers was unique, and I often think back to those small classroom discussions that challenged us to be better stewards of diplomacy and action. I would not have had the same career opportunities and journey without MIW, and I am forever grateful to the program for molding me into the leader I am today.”
—Kayla Garthus, MIW Fall 2015
“The MIW program is one of the University’s flagships. It provides students from diverse backgrounds with innovative opportunities to gain direct learning experiences, while inspiring them to become actively engaged citizens. The experience is transformational -- both personally and professionally!”
