2022 HWW Career Diversity Workshop

2022 Humanities Without Walls Pre-Doctoral Career Diversity Summer Workshop

June 17–July 1, 2022 at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor

About Humanities Without Walls

Humanities Without Walls (HWW) is a consortium of humanities centers and institutes at 16 major research universities throughout the Midwest and beyond. Based at the Humanities Research Institute at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), HWW is funded by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

About the HWW Pre-doctoral Career Diversity Summer Workshop

This project aims to help prepare doctoral students for careers both within and outside the academy through a series of summer workshops. Graduate students selected for this program will engage in intensive discussions with organizers of public humanities projects, leaders of university presses and learned societies, experts in the various domains of the digital humanities, representatives of governmental and non-governmental organizations, and holders of important non-faculty positions in colleges and universities (academic administrators, student services professionals, librarians and archivists, development officers, and so forth). In the summers of 2017 and 2019, this project expanded its reach beyond the consortial partner universities by drawing on a national applicant pool of humanities doctoral students.

In summer 2022, the University of Michigan’s Institute for the Humanities is hosting HWW’s Pre-doctoral Career Diversity Summer Workshop. Ann Arbor, MI will serve as the primary location for workshop activities. The location will provide students with the opportunity to experience the vibrant humanities ecosystem that exists in the region, including Detroit.

Humanities Without Walls is funded by grants from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and is based at the Humanities Research Institute.
