What We've Done
What We're Doing
Lit & Local is a public humanities partnership initiative that connects U-M scholars, students, writers, and Southeast Michigan communities through live literary events. As some of the few remaining hubs where people regularly gather to discuss books, ideas, history, identity, and culture, independent bookstores, libraries, schools and community organizations offer vital neighborhood-based spaces for conversation and connection. Through Lit & Local, the institute aims to foster meaningful dialogue, strengthen partnerships, and bring humanities engagement into local gathering spaces.
