The PhotoVoice Project

Location: Ann Arbor, or virtually online

Organization Description

The PhotoVoice Project works with women affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake Disaster of 2011, documenting their stories through their own written words (“voices”) and photography. These photo-voice sets are then presented through panel events, books, and online archives, with an aim to better inform public opinion and policy on humanitarian concerns in disaster response. 

The current position works with U-M faculty in translating and archiving these voices into English from Japanese.
