The film details theencounter between Pepo (Hrachia Nersisyan), a poor but honest Armenian fisherman and Arutin Kirakozovich Zimzimov (Avet Avetisyan), a cunning trader. When Pepo approches Zimzimov about an old unpaid debt, Zimzimov lays a plan to have Pepo jailed.
