Where did you transfer from? Liberty University
Why did you choose to transfer to the University of Michigan? I got out of the military and was looking for a college program in Economics.
Based on your personal experience, what is the one thing you want to tell new transfer students? Seek out both professional and social events at UM. There are tons of resources to set you up for success both within and beyond the classroom.
How did you make friends and meet other students on campus? Despite large class sizes, maximize on the shared experience that classes are challenging to get to know other students. Additionally, don't be afraid to join student clubs. I found a lot of my friends through club sports!
What is your favorite part about being an LSA transfer student? LSA has amazing resources that are specific to helping transfer students from all walks of life assimilate and enjoy the UM college experience. Don’t be shy in going to those free events and taking those free resources. They are meant and built for you!
What do you know now that you wish you had known before transferring to the University of Michigan? UM will be a huge school and you may feel like a small fish, but just know everyone is in the same boat as you and that this school experience is what you make of it!
Why did you choose your specific major(s)? Economics is a great theoretical foundation that combines both quantitative reasoning skills with philosophical aspects that will be fundamental in growing both as a person but as someone who wants to make an impact in their community and in the world.
