Major: Political Science
Hometown: Edwardsburg, Michigan
Where did you transfer from? Michigan State University
Why did you choose to transfer to the University of Michigan? I love Michigan's academic and study abroad opportunities as well as the financial aid resources that made paying for college much more manageable.
Based on your personal experience, what is the one thing you want to tell new transfer students? Get out of your comfort zone. Your experience here is what you make of it and there are so many opportunities here that may be unfamiliar or something you have never done before, but those can be the most rewarding experiences of your academic career if you just take the step out of your comfort zone to pursue those experiences.
How did you make friends and meet other students on campus? Going to events on campus that seem interesting to me. And actively looking for a community that I want to be a part of.
What is your favorite part about being an LSA transfer student? The community. The transfer experience is what you make of it but there are so many faculty and peer transfer students that you can network and make connections with to make your transition easier.
What do you know now that you wish you had known before transferring to the University of Michigan? Michigan resources are basically endless and you have a limited time here to use them, so make the most of your experience here and take advantage of what you can! The whole school is geared for your success.
Why did you choose your specific major(s)? I am a political science student because I am passionate about advocacy, policy and organizing for social change.
