Major: Communications and Media
Hometown: Wyoming, MI
Where did you transfer from? Grand Rapids Community College
Why did you choose to transfer to the University of Michigan? It has always been my dream school ever since I was a kid! Once a Wolverine, always a Wolverine. Plus, it looks good on my resume doesn’t it.
Based on your personal experience, what is the one thing you want to tell new transfer students? There is so much to do here! If you ever feel alone, trust me—just explore one of the hundreds of clubs, sports, or organizations available that are of your interests!
How did you make friends and meet other students on campus? At the club events that I would attend, I would just ask said person a really random question and we would just continue talking from there to the point where we gave each other our Instagram, Snap, number, MySpace, whatever you want to call it.
What is your favorite part about being an LSA transfer student? The fact that I only have two years left instead of four—duh! Just kidding. I would probably say the Transfer Student Center. It’s such a communal space where you can study and even grab food. And who doesn’t love food?
What do you know now that you wish you had known before transferring to the University of Michigan? The Opportunity Hub provides extensive support to students interested in transferring here. I wish I had known, straight out of high school, that the Opportunity Hub could guide me through the essay process as a TB2H student and provide feedback on my writing because that would’ve saved me a ton of stress.
Why did you choose your specific major(s)? I chose to major in Communications and Media mainly because I enjoy understanding how people connect, share ideas, and influence each other through different social media platforms–a big trend in today's society. It also gives me versatile skills that can open doors in industries like sports, business, marketing, and entertainment, all of which interest me.
