Where did you transfer from? Grand Rapids Community College

Why did you choose to transfer to the University of Michigan? I chose to transfer to the University of Michigan because of the vast amount of opportunities here and the competitive academic environment that keeps me ambitious.

Based on your personal experience, what is the one thing you want to tell new transfer students? Get yourself out there, make friends with everyone and talk to everyone. It might seem scary, but chances are, they also want to make friends.

How did you make friends and meet other students on campus? I mainly introduced myself to people in my class, but I also went to events and joined clubs.

What is your favorite part about being an LSA transfer student? My favorite part about being an LSA transfer student is the different kinds of classes that you can take in LSA. There are so many opportunities to find your interests in a variety of classes that are offered.

What do you know now that you wished you knew before transferring to the University of Michigan? I wish that I knew that the workload would really be as rigorous as I’ve heard. Make sure to build a strong work ethic to be prepared!

Why did you choose your specific major(s)? I chose computer science because I love building new programs that stem from ideas that I brainstorm. Seeing these ideas come to life make it all worthwhile.
