Bryan Burns (Associate Professor, Department of Classics, Wellesley College) has won the James Wiseman Book Award for his monograph Mycenaean Greece, Mediterranean Commerce, and the Formation of Identity. Prof. Burns' book examines the impact and use of imported objects in Mycenaean society and is the first to evaluate closely the contexts of imported artifacts, and therefore to determine how they contributed to the formation, manifestation, and contestation of power among Mycenaean elites. The breadth of Bryan’s cross-cultural and cross-temporal comparisons are especially impressive.  His book also provides valuable information on the role of  Mycenaean objects in the history of Greek archaeology.  

Steven Tuck (Professor and Chair, Department of Classics, Miami University) has received the Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching. Prof. Tuck has for many years been recognized as one of the best and most admired professors at Miami. His enthusiasm, information-packed lectures, and dry sense of humor have earned him many annual teaching awards.  Prof. Tuck is also widely regarded as an AIA lecturer and has been recorded for several courses available on DVD's. An excellent scholar, he is the author of Latin Inscriptions in the Kelsey Museum: The Dennison & De Criscio Collections as well as many articles on the art and archaeology of Campania.
