The University of Michigan provides a rich environment for the study of the ancient world. IPAMAA students enjoy access to a wide variety of resources clustered on the Ann Arbor campus, some of which you may explore further by following the links shown below. The program's physical home, in the Kelsey Museum of Archaeology, provides desk-space, computer facilities, administrative support, a fieldwork study-area, the use of a small, dedicated library, and — most importantly — access to the large and diverse collections housed in the Museum.
The Museum of Anthropology and the Museum of Art likewise hold materials of interest to students in the program, and provide further possibilities for involvement in museum practices. Both of IPAMAA's sponsoring departments (Classical Studies and The History of Art) provide space, facilities, and specialist research libraries. Notable among the holdings of the excellent University of Michigan library system and its Special Collections is the Papyrology Collection, containing over 10,000 items and one of the largest such collections in the western hemisphere.
