About
I am a researcher working in the Denef lab at the University of Michigan. I started out here as a junior during my undergraduate studies, and transitioned to a full-time role after earning my degree. Initially, I was responsible for maintaining bacterial and algal culture collections, conducting algal growth experiments to determine the role of bacteria interactions with an algal host, and monitoring avian botulism gene activity at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. More recently, my work has expanded. I have mentored several undergraduate students, serve as a liason for 7 other labs in our shared spaces, and maintain live Daphnia and Mussels from the Great Lakes for use in feeding experiments. I use the R programming language for data analysis, Python for writing robot pipette scripts, and have collaborated on several manuscripts for publication.
