Research interests

How and why does genetics cause new biological traits to arise and change over evolutionary time and, conversely, what allows some traits to remain unchanged over tens of millions of years? My research investigates these questions by combining evolutionary analyses and molecular genetic experiments to characterize the relationship between historical changes in genes and their effects (or lack thereof) on organismal functions and fitness.
