Teaching the World through Graphic Novels: A Teachers Workshop

The University of Michigan and Michigan State University have partnered to host the Graphic Novels Teacher Workshop.
Teachers will hear from professors and practitioners about regional events and how they use graphic novels, read graphic novels covering different world regions, and create their own lesson plans to share with teachers regionally and nationally.
Open to K-12 in-service and pre-service teachers.
The workshop will cover:
- History of comics in the United States and the World
- Intro to Comics Studies and Using comics in the classroom
- Conversations with scholars and creators
- Teaching guide and other resources for comics at Michigan State University and University of Michigan
Benefits for Participants:
Michigan K-12 teachers will receive 12 SCECHs. Upon completing the program and submitting required lesson plans, participants will receive a $500 stipend and graphic novel resources.
