The University of Michigan celebrated its bicentennial with alumni in Mumbai India on November 18th. A U-M delegation that included three deans—Andrew Martin (College of Literature, Science and the Arts); Alec Gallimore (College of Engineering); and Scott De Rue (Ross School of Business)—and James Holloway, Vice Provost for Global Engagement and Interdisciplinary Academic Affairs, joined the U-M India Alumni Association for a day-long event. Farina Mir, Director of the Center for South Asian Studies and Associate Professor of History, was also in attendance, and discussed U-M's longstanding and deep engagements with India with alumni. Over 200 alumni from across India gathered for the event.

While in India, Dean Martin (LSA) penned a piece about the importance of a liberal arts education for the Economic Times and was interviewed by Menaka Doshi on BloombergQuintwhere he discussed political ideologies of the US Supreme Court judges and whether India's Supreme Court can remain apolitical.
