Advanced Fellows Tales of Leadership:
The Advanced Fellows program gives BLI Fellows the opportunity to craft a personal leadership plan and develop integrated skills in a structured setting. The 2017-18 cohort of Advanced Fellows included 9 students from wide-ranging disciplines who came together to share, reflect, and work towards their individual goals through a supportive community of BLI staff and fellows. In April 2018, the Advanced Fellows came together to cap off their year with stories of their leadership journey.
The Advanced Fellows’ Tales of Leadership event uses a Moth-inspired format to allow students to further reflect on and share their experiences through the art of storytelling. Students regaled the audience with adventures in foreign countries, the winding pathways they took to find the majors and internships that were right for them, and the challenges they faced during camping trips and as freshman new to the university. They recounted the lessons they learned: how they traded the certainty of early career plans for the passion of new interests; how they learned about themselves through others and found their way back to the friends and family who made what they are; and how they learned to take care of themselves and discover their own values in order to move forward in their careers.
Congratulations to the 2017-18 Cohort: Eric Donarski, Charlene Franke, Allison Lang, Kevin Liu, Kate Marciniak, Raeruth Oleshansky, Rachel Sun, Westley Hoffman, and Dana Zhu, and thanks for wonderful year!
