Michigan Community Scholars Program invites you to join their vibrant, inclusive, and supportive community for the 2025-2026 academic year.
The Michigan Learning Communities (MLC) application will open on April 2 to first-year students who have paid their enrollment deposit. To join MCSP, you must complete the MLC application within the Housing application when you apply for campus housing.
Application Questions
There will be two application essay questions. We recommend writing out your answers beforehand so you can copy and paste them into the application form.
Here is the MLC question, which all applicants to learning communities complete: The Michigan Learning Communities are committed to building communities of engaged and enthusiastic students from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives. In what ways would you contribute to your Michigan Learning Community and bring a unique perspective or viewpoint? (Suggested word count: 150-300 words)
Here's our MCSP specific question: Tell us about a social justice issue you would like to learn more about or take an active role in addressing during your first year in MCSP. Why is this issue important to you? Based on your understanding of MCSP's mission, how would your participation in MCSP allow you to learn more and prepare you to take action on this issue? (expected word count: 200-300 words)
