Confronting physics beyond the Standard Model with the LHC data

New results have been pouring in from the LHC during the last two years. Searches for new physics have produced many null results, leading to new interesting limits, while a new particle at 125GeV has been discovered, compatible with the Standard Model Higgs boson. These conclusions are reshaping our knowledge of Beyond the Standard Model Physics at the TeV scale. In this talk I will present past and current work on the implications of ATLAS and CMS results on new physics models, such as supersymmetry and weakly interacting (WIMP) Dark Mattermodels. I will also discuss how the task of comparing of theoretical models with experimental searches can be simplified in our current data rich era.

Direct CP violation in D \to P+P-."In this talk we briefly present a flavor-SU(3) technique to study branching ratios and direct CP asymmetries of D-meson decays. The first part of the talk is meant to set up a foundation, based on previous work, to deal with flavor-SU(3) amplitudes and relative strong phases. In addition, we present a model for dealing with SU(3)-breaking in branching ratio measurements of SCS D0 decays. In the second part of the talk we make use of a proposal for an enhanced CP-violating penguin in the SM, to explain the recent LHCb and CDF observations of CP violation in SCS D0 decays. Furthermore, we use our model to predict CP violation in π0π0 and K+K0 final states. Large experimentalbounds on individual CP asymmetries give rise to a large allowed range of δ, the strong phase of the CP-violating penguin. We also briefly discuss future prospects

Warped Conformal Field TheoryA 'warped conformal field theory' is a field theory in 1+1 dimensions  invariant under a chiral scaling symmetry that acts only on right-movers.  The symmetries differ from an ordinary CFT, but for some purposes provide  equally powerful constraints. I will discuss their thermodynamics, purely  within 2d field theory. Then, motivated by the fact that the near horizon  geometry of every extremal black hole has the same symmetries as a  warped conformal field theory, I will describe an application to the calculation of black hole entropy in quantum gravity.

Carving Out the Space of Conformal Field TheoriesWe discuss techniques for placing universal bounds on operator dimensions and OPE coefficients in Conformal Field Theories in any spacetime dimension. These techniques let us explore the space of CFTs, and in some cases they yield new information about known theories, such as the 3D Ising Model.

Systematics of Supersymmetric Boundary Conditions in N=4 Yang-Mills TheoryBoundary conditions on N=4 Yang-Mills Theory preserving half of the supersymmetries was classified by Gaiotto and Witten. In this talk, I will describe our recent findings for boundary conditions preserving less than half of the supersymmetries.
