About
Anne Jonas is an Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan - Flint College of Innovation & Technology. She conducts qualitative and community-based design research around digital platforms and social inequality, particularly focusing on schooling, labor, and LGBTQ+ youth and communities. She received her PhD from the UC Berkeley School of Information with a Designated Emphasis in Science and Technology Studies, and was a postdoctoral Computing Innovation Fellow at Michigan State University. Dr. Jonas’s work has been published in venues such as ACM CHI, CSCW, and Big Data & Society, and has been supported by grant funding from the Spencer Foundation. She has worked at a number of nonprofit organizations including the Barnard Center for Research on Women, the Participatory Culture Foundation, and GLSEN. She graduated from the Chicago Public Schools and Brown University, where she studied English Literature and cultural theory with a focus on gender and sexuality.
